THE 25TH DAY OF EACH MONTH, THE BLESSED VIRGIN GIVES A MESSAGE TO THE VISIONARY MARIJA, THAT IS TO BE GIVEN TO THE WORLD.
"Dear children! You are running, working, gathering – but without blessing. You are not praying! Today I call you to stop in front of the manger and to meditate on Jesus, Whom I give to you today also, to bless you and to help you to comprehend that, without Him, you have no future. Therefore, little children, surrender your lives into the hands of Jesus, for Him to lead you and protect you from every evil. Thank you for having responded to my call.”

Medjugorje
When I was younger and heard about Mary’s appearances to Juan Diego, and to Bernadette and to Jacinta, Francisco and Lucia, it always awakened in me amazement. Elizabeth asked, “How have I merited that the Mother of my Lord should come to me?”
As I got to know something of the history of those visionaries, it was clear that their lives were never the same afterward. They were different. Their world was different. Their perception was different.
By Her coming, Our Lady is calling us all to be different, to help make the world different, to see things differently. To me it is very gratifying to be part of this monthly publication. Time and again, our articles help to explain how many lives are touched miraculously in simple ways, on the marvels of conversion.
Today, I’ll ask you to spend a little time in self-examination: “How have I merited to be part of this? Am I changing? Am I helping the world change?”
St. John Bosco
Saint for the Year
By June Klins
For the last few years we have been randomly choosing the name of a saint to be our “holy protector” for the year. St. Faustina’s community used to do this every year on New Year’s Day. This can be a fun and educational thing to do with your family, friends, prayer group or parish. Almost always there is a connection between the saint and the person or organization who randomly picked it. Sometimes you might not see it at first, but throughout the year, if you read about your saint you will usually discover it.
Although any list of saints can be used, we usually use the list of saints provided by Children of Medjugorje at www.childrenofmedjugorje.com. Above the list it says, “You can also pick extra papers for the persons you carry in your heart but who are not present physically. The tradition goes that it is the saint who chooses you, not the other way around. The saint wishes to spend a year closer to you, to talk to you, to help you… It is up to us then to learn more about the life, the writings of the saint. As we pray with the saint every day, he or she will help us from the Heavens, in all the little aspects of our lives. He or she is also praying for us.”
This year my 2 year-old grandson Thomas picked our saint for us – St. John Bosco. His feast day is this month, January 31. Our prayer mission with St. John Bosco is to pray for teenagers, and once again, this is one of Our Lady’s intentions, as She asks us to pray for the youth. We will also try to use a quote from St. John Bosco each month as we did with St. Augustine last year.
One of our subscribers, Norene Adams shared a story about her family’s saints with us: “The girls and I choose our saints every New Year’s eve and have been doing so for the past five years. Well, over that time, Marita and I have been chosen by St. Francis of Assisi once each, and he has chosen Ella THREE times, including this year. So we have asked him to be the patron saint of our family, since he seems to enjoy hanging out with us so much. Well, one night a finch flew into our house. The three of us spent about an hour trying to get him out, while our cat, Popcorn, tried his hardest to make the bird his evening snack. We put out bread, we tried bird calls to lure the bird out, but nothing. Finally Ella (age 5), said, ‘Mom, why don't you ask St. Francis to help?’ So I said that was a great idea, and asked her what we should say. She said, ‘St. Francis, we really need this bird to be out of our house so I can go to bed and Poppy doesn't eat him.’ Within about 15 seconds, the bird flew out of our house! I went to bed thinking, how good it was to be Catholic and have all of these wonderful helpers that we can call upon.” Amen to that!
"Trust all things to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and to Mary Help of Christians and you will see what miracles are.” ~St. John Bosco

Sacred Scripture
At the very beginning of verse 18 of Chapter 9 of St. Luke's Gospel we read, "There was a time when He had gone apart to pray," translated by Msgr. Ronald Knox's translation of the Latin Vulgate. St. Thomas Aquinas teaches that everything Jesus did (even if He did it for other reasons also) He did to teach us a lesson. Jesus went apart to pray. Apart. Sometimes we need to do that in order to pray. We need to go off to a church, to our room, to a quiet place.
We can, of course, pray anywhere but sometimes, due to circumstances perhaps, we need to "go apart" to pray. Sometimes it helps us to concentrate on the words we are praying. Solitude is greatly under-valued in today’s society and very hard to find by some people. But it is worth the effort. Sometime we need to go "apart to pray."

Jakov’s Talk before the 25th Anniversary, 6/21/06
I would not call this an anniversary, but call it a gift from God, a gift which was given to all of us, not only to us 6 visionaries, but a gift which was given to the entire world. Our Lady is the Mother of all of us, and She gives the same love to all of us. She comes to us because all of us are Her children.
Many people are wondering why Our Lady has been appearing to us for so long. Why? Why do we get so many messages? And many people say Our Lady gives the same messages all the time. But instead of asking why, we should say something else. We have to thank Her. We have to thank God because He allows Our Lady to spend time with us. If we open our hearts, we’ll be able to understand why Our Lady comes here. And this is what I said a little bit before – Our Lady comes because of all of us. She comes because She loves us all, because She wants to lead us to peace, because She wants to bring joy to us. All of this we can find in Jesus Christ. That is why Our Lady gives the messages to us. And the messages Our Lady gives us are the way to get to Jesus Christ. The way She gives us is the way of prayer and conversion, of peace, and the way of penance and fasting and Holy Mass.
We are able to accept the messages of Our Lady. We have to do what Our Lady asks us to do, and that is to open ourselves completely toward Her. In one of Her messages Our Lady says, “Dear children, it is enough if you open your hearts, and I’ll do everything else by myself.” That is the first thing you have to do here in Medjugorje. We have to surrender ourselves to Our Lady and we have to give Her our entire life.
Our Lady wants us to pray. Our Lady wants us to pray the Holy Rosary. Also Our Lady says that every prayer we say with the heart is important, and that’s why Our Lady says all the time, “Pray with the heart.” Many people wonder what prayer of the heart is. It is a gift which is given to us by God, and this is a gift which God desires to give to every single man. We have to pray for this gift from God, especially here in Medjugorje. Our Lady repeated so many times She wants to give gifts to all of us. She wants to give us the gift of prayer of the heart, and we have to be ready to ask for this.
Our Lady wants us to pray in our families. She wants us to place God in the very first place in our lives so that we can find the time for God and for our families. And if God is present in our families, we are going to have peace in our families, we are going to have love in our families. This is the most important thing – this is what every family needs. In Her messages Our Lady has been repeating so many times that nothing but family prayer can unite families so much. That is why we have to place God in the very first place in our lives. We have to become an example to our children. The late Fr. Slavko used to say very often that if we give the rules of the faith to our children from the very beginning, even if they distance themselves from God one day, they’ll always come back to Him. And even those rules we placed in their hearts stay in their hearts forever.
Our Lady invites us to fast. She wants us to fast on bread and water on Wednesdays and Fridays. Today is Wednesday! So I’m reminding you, in case you forgot. But how do we fast? You have to fast out of love. You have to fast in silence. Many people wonder why fasting is important. It is important because Our Lady wants us to fast. Just try to remember what Our Lady says:” Dear children, with prayer and fasting you can reach every goal you want. You can even stop wars.” And that is why fasting is important. important.
So often in our lives when we have a crisis, we wonder, “God, where are You? Why don’t You help me, God? Why did You forget me, God? “ But we have to ask ourselves some other questions: “Where have we been? What have we done? How much time have we spent with God? Did we respect His commandments? “ God is always with us, but so often we do not want His presence, through our sins we committed.
So you see, Our Lady says, “Convert yourselves. Convert your hearts.” Without conversion of your heart you are not able to get to God, and this is very important for every single pilgrim who comes here to Medjugorje. Why did you come here? You did not come here to see us visionaries, and you did not come here to see the signs or miracles, because the greatest sign, the greatest gift that we can receive here is our own conversion. Here we can start a new life, a new life with God.
What is even more important, we are going to take this life back to our homes. You see, Medjugorje does not stop here. Medjugorje continues back in our homes. Medjugorje continues in every family, and this way we are able to become an example to other people. But what kind of example are we to be? You see when we preach, when we talk, then we have a big mouth! All of us can do that! All of us can talk, but the question is – do we live what we are talking about? This is a question we should ask ourselves. We have to talk to other people with our example, with our lives. And when you leave Medjugorje, when you go back to your homes, what do you need to carry back? The greatest and most beautiful souvenir you can get here are the messages of Our Lady, so that other people can recognize within you God’s love, so that other people can see God within you and how God acts and works through you. This is the example Our Lady asks from all of us.

permanent sign will be
1981 PRECURSOR TO "THE NEW
SPRINGTIME"
By Dawn Curazzato
When my granddaughter was
born with multiple handicaps, I
went in search of the Divine
Healer. I found Him at the
bedside of another child, who
laid in a coma in Worcester,
Massachusetts, Little Audrey
Santo, whose cause for
canonization is underway. I went
with a child-like faith and a
strong conviction in the truth
of the healing stories in the
Bible. I witnessed a Eucharistic
Miracle which changed my life
immediately and forever! I
believed in miracles and perhaps
that is part of the reason why
our Katelin experienced a
complete healing as outlined in
the book, "Memoir of a Miracle."
I met many nuns and priests
during our trials and I never
forgot the words of one of the
priests when I asked about
signs from God. He said, "Did
you know God often speaks to us
through 'nature' and 'dates'! I
guess I had never really
thought about it. It was AFTER
he said that to me that I began
seeing the Lord speak to me in
such a way. We went to Audrey
Santo's between Easter and
Divine Mercy Sunday, two holy
times on the church calendar.
Divine Mercy Sunday was my
daughter's birthday that year.
The Host I saw bleed, bled on
June 5th, my mother's birthday
and that made me wonder if
Katelin's birthday had any
Church significance. She was
born February 11, the Feast Day
of Our Lady of Lourdes, Lourdes,
a place of healing! My hands
shook as I held the religious
calendar and looked at her birth
date and it was then I knew
Katelin would be healed. They
were not co-incidents, they were
"God-incidents!" There was
personal and religious meaning
to those dates which awakened
something in me and made my
heart leap with great joy.
In the Old Testament God
speaks to His servants over
20,000 times and they responded,
"Speak, Lord, your servant is
listening!" Today people
complain that God does not speak
to His people any more, that He
doesn't answer prayers, but that
is not true! There is so much
noise around us and so many
distractions that today people
say, "Listen, Lord, your servant
is speaking!" How can we hear
the Lord if we are doing all the
talking? I find Adoration to be
a wonderful place to hear the
Lord, but if we find a quiet
place and pray openly and
fervently we will hear that
inner voice and we will
recognize it as His! It was in
Adoration that I got a
prompting, a date and I wasn't
quite sure what it meant. I had
begun a second book, but I was
getting a great deal of
"interference" which continues,
but I thought I might share some
highlights of one of the
chapters simply called “1981.”
In 1981 the first portable
computer came out. Computers can
be wonderful tools of
information but they are,
unfortunately, also harbingers
of misinformation and
confusion as well. They are one
of the biggest sources of
"distraction" in the world
today. Distraction and confusion
are tools of the devil, so is
pornography. Thanks to the
computer, pornography, which
means “the devil’s pictures,” is
the biggest addiction in the
world.
In 1981 AIDS was first
identified as a 'disease.'
Though we know there are
innocent victims of AIDS, it is
primarily spread through sexual
contact and intravenous drugs.
Immorality is also a rampant
'disease' and tool of the devil.
In 1981 the first test tube
baby was born. Here we have man
playing God!
In 1981, on the Fatima date,
May 13th, Pope John Paul II was
shot and almost killed. He would
later visit his would-be
assassin and forgive
him. He took the bullet that
entered his body and had it put
in the Statue of Our Lady of
Fatima. At a later date he would
declare Jacinta and Francesco
saints. It is widely believed
that the outcome of the Third
Secret of Fatima, in which the
Pope appeared to be killed in
the vision the children were
shown, was mitigated due to the
prayers and reparation of the
Fatima children.
In 1981 a crippled,
cloistered nun, with no
financial means, began the
largest Catholic Communications
system in the world and EWTN was
born, making Mother Angelica a
household name!
In November of 1981 the
Apparitions in Kebeho, Africa
began. The Blessed Mother gave
important messages to 7
visionaries. She called for
prayer and repentance and She
called the people to turn away
from their immorality. She told
them if they did not have a
change of heart the rivers would
run red with blood and swollen
bodies. Her warning went
unheeded and the terrible
genocide in Rwanda resulted with
reporters describing the carnage
in almost the exact words Our
Lady used!
And in 1981, a little more
than a month after Pope John
Paul II was shot, on June 25th
the Blessed Mother
reportedly began appearing to
six children in a town called
Medjugorje in the former
Yugoslavia! The children
will each be given 10 secrets
which will be divulged to the
world in their life time. Three
of the children already have 10
secrets the other 3 have 9. Our
Lady also leaves a message for
the world on the 25th of each
month. She calls for Mass,
fasting, monthly Confession,
reading the Bible and receiving
Communion. No one knows when the
secrets will unfold but several
will be worldwide events and are
ominous! Our Lady has promised
to leave a permanent sign on
Apparition Hill at the spot
where She first appeared. She
has told the visionaries these
are Her LAST apparitions in this
way.
1981 was an important
year! God is speaking to us,
through His mother and through
dates and events. Are we
'getting' the message? It seems
not as the world capitulates
deeper and deeper into sin.
Abortion is the greatest
genocide of our times killing
almost 50 million babies of all
races. Unless we hear the cries
of the unborn and speak out
against this great evil we will
never be delivered from
genocide. I believe the
culmination of the above events
will usher in, what Pope John
Paul II called "The New Spring
Time!" because they will take us
on a journey from the head to
the heart. Greatness is born of
suffering and oppression. We
may witness an 'event' never
before seen in our history. We
are being called to "greatness"
and greatness is not defined by
a title, or by what we own, or
by how many friends we have or
even by how many people love us;
it is defined by how we love
others! If
we truly love as God has called
us to love in the two great
commandments there would be no
genocide, no AIDS, no abortion,
no sin! Will this time of great
evil, of rampant sin and intense
hatred give rise to The New
Spring Time by awakening in us
heroic love that will see evil
for what it really is? I think
it will. I think we will see a
great Spiritual Revival but
unfortunately we have a ways to
go. God is speaking to us. He is
showing us the way. He IS the
WAY the TRUTH and the LIFE!
Awake O Sleeper!

St. Paul
By June Klins
Last June Pope Benedict XVI
proclaimed this the year of St.
Paul. The following month when
Redemptorist priest Fr. John
Murray spoke at our annual St.
Ann Novena, he used as his theme
the life and writings of St.
Paul. I would like to share some
of the highlights that compare
to Our Lady’s messages.
St. Paul was born about the
year 8 A.D. in Tarsus. He lived
there till he was 13 and then he
went to Jerusalem to study, and
when he was done with his
studies he was designated to be
a Pharisee. Paul was about 26
years old when he had his
conversion experience. After his
conversion he spent 3 years
doing penance for his past sins.
(Does not Our Lady ask us to
penance?)
St. Paul is best known for
his letters which take up more
than half of the New Testament,
and are the oldest writings in
the New Testament. Although St.
Paul was small in stature, he
had a strong personality and was
very passionate. His mission was
not to baptize, but to preach.
He was the greatest evangelist
of all times. Although St. Paul
never witnessed the life of
Jesus, he called himself an
“apostle” and used the word
“apostle” 56 times in his
letters. He has been dubbed “the
apostle to the Gentiles.” At
that time Gentiles were not
allowed in the temple, but were
permitted in the synagogue, so
that is where he preached. Fr.
John said that we are called to
witness what God has done in our
lives (likewise, Our Lady has
asked us many times to witness),
but like Paul we should go to
“fertile ground” and not to just
anyone.
Paul saw himself as a
Christian Jew who had met Jesus.
He converted from his Pharisee
attitude, in which it was
thought holiness could be
earned. In his conversion
experience Paul realized that he
had done nothing to merit it,
and the focus of his theology
after that became grace, a gift
which cannot be earned or
merited. Paul saw everything as
God’s gift and would praise and
thank God. The fact that grace
builds on nature is an axiom of
theology. Grace fulfills us and
completes us, and never
suppresses us. Self-fulfillment
is about cooperating with God’s
grace. Grace is recognizing God
acting in your life 24 hours a
day. Sometimes God comes to us
through other people, especially
those in need and those who love
us. Grace always comes as a
response to prayer. (Is that why
Our Lady tells us to pray, pray,
pray?) Grace can be targeted
too, for example, you can say a
little prayer when being tempted
to gossip, and then cooperate
with that grace.
Fr. John said that St. Paul
can teach us much through his
conversion story. So significant
is it, that his conversion story
is told four times in the
Scriptures. The Church even sets
aside a day every year to
remember St. Paul’s conversion,
January 25, which also just
happens to be “Medjugorje
message day.” Father said that
a conversion experience is an
experience of loving
forgiveness, often experienced
in a special way in Confession.
Father said that conversion is a
lifelong process. (Have we not
heard the visionaries tell us
that?)
Father said that in any
conversion, like in Paul’s, God
takes the first step. It is up
to the person to recognize the
grace and respond and cooperate
with that grace. Herod chose to
refuse the grace, and we do the
same thing when we respond a
little bit or miss it
altogether.
Paul’s conversion was a “metanoia,”
a Greek word which means to
change your life, to change your
way of thinking. (This is what
Our Lady asks us to do too – a
conversion of heart.) This is
opposed to the Greek word
“paranoia,” which means to be
obsessed with fear. Paul put
aside his fear, in following
Jesus, who says 33 times in the
Gospels “fear not.”
Fear is the opposite of trust.
Conversion is not so much about
changing your behavior, but
learning to trust God.
St. Paul wrote twelve letters
with his name attached to them,
and most of them dealt with
problems of the communities to
whom he was writing. The only
letter that does not deal with
problems is his letter to the
Philippians. This was a letter
of gratitude. Paul is the most
consistent model of gratitude in
the Bible. We can learn much
from him. We should count our
blessings, starting with our
families, and thank God for
everything. We should even thank
God for the difficult people in
our lives. One of the keys to
holiness is to slow down and be
grateful for our blessings.
During this year of St. Paul,
it would be a good time to read
his letters, in fulfillment of
Our Lady’s request to spend time
daily in reading the Scriptures.
St. Paul, please intercede for
us in our conversion of heart.
We felt that the following
article will help clear up some
questions we have been asked in
the past few months. Dr. Mark
Miravalle’s talk “Is Medjugorje
Real?” will be continued in the
next issue.
Priests Need Your Prayers, Your
Love and Your Help
By Sr. Emmanuel
As many of you are aware, after
Rome suspended Fr. Tomislav
Vlasic, the media attempted to
damage Medjugorje by associating
it with his mistakes. However,
after some time, they’ve slowed
down their attack. In fact,
linking the fate of Father
Vlasic with the fate of
Medjugorje so dangerously
misconstrued the situation that
the media lost much of their
credibility in the process. The
interview of Fr. Ivan Sesar,
the Franciscan Provincial of
Mostar, has clarified many
essential points in the debate.
It is obvious to the
righteous hearts in search of
truth that there has been no
official link between Father
Vlasic and the parish of
Medjugorje since 1987, when the
teachings of Fr. Vlasic began to
exhibit theological errors.
Along with Agnes Heuspel, a
woman from Germany, Fr. Vlasic
founded a community in
Medjugorje. Later, he relocated
it to Italy. Little by little,
it seems that Father’s
discernment was blinded: it was
not the Shepherd leading the
sheep but the sheep leading the
Shepherd. For him, the ‘inner
locutions’ that this woman from
Germany claimed to receive
became rapidly a stumbling block
and, as he did not wish to let
go of her locutions or the
community, (regardless of the
insistent warnings of his
brother priests), he was slowly
led into the tragedy that we see
today. It is important to
underline here two points that
will help us understand:
When a mystical phenomenon
appears in the Church, the
classical response from the evil
one is to create confusion so as
to annihilate it. This is how a
great number of false mystics
surface. There are many famous
cases surrounding Lourdes,
Fatima and other approved
apparition sites. Medjugorje is
not immune to this phenomenon.
On the other hand, when a
believer receives inner
locutions, it is absolutely
essential that these events be
assessed by someone competent in
the Church. In fact, nobody can
be at the same time the receiver
and the interpreter of what he
receives, and even less the one
who imposes what he has received
on others. A third party must do
that for him, and must distance
himself prudently in order to
escape the enemy’s trap. The
tree is not to judge the value
of its own fruits, but the
gardener. Here obedience is key,
as well as humility. Satan will
never defeat someone who is
obedient! The Church’s wisdom
and the mystics have affirmed
this process. In the case we are
looking at today, the
‘locutionist’ had become the
leader, and her words were
becoming law above the prudent
pastoral guidance expressed by
the Franciscan superiors. Here
lies the first mistake, and it
is so common nowadays! In some
prayer groups for example, some
messages impose themselves on
the community as direct,
unavoidable revelations from God
through the person receiving
them. Without the safety net of
the Church, it is no wonder that
all sorts of deviant behaviors
ensue, especially in the domain
of morals, and we may end up
crediting God with saying things
that are objectively contrary to
the Gospel.
As for Medjugorje, it is far
from being condemned. On the
contrary, it seems that the
perspective from the Holy See is
positive. On September 16th,
when the waves of scandals
against Medjugorje were
inundating the media, the
visionary Ivan Dragicevic was
invited to participate in an
evening of prayer in the big
Cathedral St. Stephen in Vienna
(Austria), where thousands of
faithful attended! At 6:40 PM
he received his daily apparition
of Our Lady while a deep silence
enveloped the church! This
event speaks for itself. On the
other hand, it is highly
possible that in the near
future, Rome makes known some
changes of its new commission
for Medjugorje which should give
some new direction for the life
of the parish in Medjugorje. Fr.
Ivan Sesar said last month, “We
are ready to welcome a new
commission for Medjugorje.”
Let’s act! Each one of us is
free to believe or not believe
that Mary appears in Medjugorje,
and even the visionaries express
a deep detachment about it, “I
am telling you what I see, and
you are free to do what you
please with it”, they answer,
smiling to whoever states he
doesn’t believe in these
apparitions. But if a priest of
Jesus Christ is hit in his
priestly ministry because of a
failure, no one can consider
himself as detached, even less
can he rejoice at this tragedy.
A priest remains a priest for
Eternity, and his being put
aside from his ministry is a
deep suffering for Christ and
for His body of which we are
members. This is why, rather
than dwelling on this sad story,
I wish to propose a concrete
action for us: since we will
celebrate Fr. Slavko’s birth
into Heaven on November 24th,
let’s start a 30-day novena to
him, starting on October 24th
[since it is too late for
that now, you can start it
anytime], for the sake of Fr.
Vlasic and those who are still
following him! Let’s also
extend this prayer to our
favorite Franciscan saints: St.
Francis, St. Anthony of Padua,
St. Padre Pio, the 30 martyrs of
Siroki Brijeg, etc… Doing so, we
will actively help Jesus heal
His Church, Her most beloved
sons, all priests, and in a
particular way, Her son Tomislav,
our brother! What sort of
novena? We can choose by our
own effort, but let’s unite in a
common decision, namely to say a
spontaneous prayer each day,
from the heart, to those
Franciscan saints named above,
and let’s offer Our Lady at
least a decade of the Rosary for
this intention. As a sacrifice,
let’s have at least one Mass
celebrated. The Mother of God
said to Mirjana, “Priests do not
need your judgments, rather your
prayer, your love and your help!
Priests are also human beings,
and today it is difficult for a
priest to remain faithful. May
your pastors be in your hearts

A Blind Man Named Jozo
By Louise Lotze
Each trip to Medjugorje
brings with it a wonderful day
trip to visit and hear Fr.
Jozo's talk to the pilgrims and
the healing service afterward
in Siroki Brijeg. This day is
always so very special and I try
to bring back a new purchase
from the gift shop where books
and talks on tape or CD are
available. His most recent book
is titled Observe the Fruits,
copyright Feb. 2008, English
edition. All the proceeds from
his sales are to support the
5,500 orphans from the war in
Bosnia and his new Holy Family
Institute retreat center. It is
an awesome opportunity to bring
home the talks and messages from
Fr. Jozo to reminisce later and
share with others. This tiny
book was a thrill to read as it
was filled with page after page
of miracles and wonders which
have occurred these past 27
years with Our Lady appearing in
Medjugorje. I will be sharing
them with you now and in future
newsletters.
In the early days of the
apparitions there was a blind
man called Jozo who had great
faith and trust in the events.
He believed “straight away,” as
Fr. Jozo states. The blind man
asked his granddaughter, who was
only 6 years old, to bring him
something from the place where
Our Lady appears. The little
girl said there was nothing on
the hill, but her grandpa
insisted she would find
something.
While on the hill the little
girl picked up a stone and some
soil and kept everything in her
left hand. She brought it home
and placed these two things into
her grandfather's hand and told
him that this is what she
brought from the place where Our
Lady appears. The old blind man
closed his hand and held the
small stone and the little bit
of soil and he sat up and prayed
all night. In the morning he
went to wash in the usual basin
and he placed everything in the
water, which then got dirty. He
washed his eyes and said to his
wife: “I can see you!” She
could not believe him as a poor
suffering woman who had been
caring for her husband for so
many years. He tried to
convince her and meanwhile,
looking at his hands, he cried
out: “Where are my sores?”
When his wife realized that the
sores had disappeared she was so
happy and she then ran out of
the house shouting: “My husband
is healed! My husband is
healed!”
This great gift and miracle
brought all the people of the
village running to see the cured
man. An enthused Bishop came,
along with priests; journalists
took photos and published the
news that Our Lady had cured the
man. The police began to
persecute the blind man, the
seers and other people. They
ordered him to tell everyone
that he had always been
healthy. But he answered: “I
can't say so, because the Lord
can lay upon me that suffering
again if I don't tell the
truth.”
Afterwards they went to the
seers and obliged them to keep
quiet about this or they would
go to prison with their parents.
(At this time the former
Yugoslavia was controlled by the
Communists). The seers
answered: “Very well, let's go
to jail, but we cannot be
silent, because Our Lady told us
to testify.”
Fr. Jozo then confesses his
own weakness: “When I used to
go to hear that man's confession
and bring him Holy Communion, I
couldn't look at his hands
covered with sores. He used to
keep them in plastic gloves in
order to contain the bleeding
that never stopped. Even one of
his sons, a dermatologist living
in Canada, had not been able to
help his father. A great
anguish indeed. And now he was
healed!”

Mirjana’s Message, December 2,
2008
"Dear children! In this holy
time of joyful expectation, God
has chosen you, the little ones,
to realize His great intentions.
My children, be humble. Through
your humility, with His wisdom,
God will make of your souls a
chosen home. You will illuminate
it with good works and thus,
with an open heart, you will
welcome the birth of my Son in
all of His generous love. Thank
you dear children."
