In June of 2006 I went to Medjugorje for the 25^th anniversary. We spent some time praying at the Risen Jesus statue behind the church. Our tour guide, Zeljka Rozic, who is Vicka’s cousin, told us that before this statue came to Medjugorje, it had been sent to Rome and was blessed by Pope John Paul II.  This statue, which is made of bronze, has been weeping a liquid from the knee area since 2001. During the week of the anniversary this year, the liquid was very steady. Zeljka told us that the liquid has been tested and has been found to be human tears, although the parish has made no official statement on this.

   In almost every store in Medjugorje little prayer cloths can be purchased with various pictures of Our Lady and Jesus on them. People stand in line for a chance to wipe the liquid “tears” with the prayer cloths. Although I do not have official verification on this, someone in our group said that there had been a person in New York who had a miraculous healing after praying with one of these cloths. Also, Zeljka told us about a lady in Poland who had a miracle with the cloth.

   I purchased a number of these cloths and wiped the “tears” with them.  I also had these cloths blessed by a priest in Medjugorje and by Our Lady’s motherly blessing at apparition time.  When I came home, the Holy Spirit inspired me to share these cloths with our subscribers. Although I would like to send one to each and every one, obviously I can’t.  So the next best thing I thought was to lend them out to people. I prayed for a confirmation if this is really what God wanted. I opened the Bible at random and pointed to the following passage: “It is to be square when folded double.”(Ex 28:16) – which describes the cloths exactly. I began to lend them out to people for a week at a time.  Then one of our subscribers in Florida got a word of knowledge from the Lord on how to multiply the blessings by making more of these cloths by touching them to the original. She got very specific instructions on how to make them. This was verified with a very holy priest. The story is in our October, 2006 issue. Only God knows how many prayer cloths have since been made from the original 25 from Medjugorje.

Prayer Cloths

   What is a prayer cloth? In Acts 19:11-12, it speaks of how cloths (aprons and handkerchiefs) were touched to Peter and Paul and taken back to the sick who were often cured of their ills. It says that "God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul; so that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them." Prayer cloths are sacramentals. As in the case of all sacramentals, its power comes not from the sign itself, but by means of the Church’s official (liturgical, not private) prayer of blessing-a power the Church derives from Christ Himself (see Matt. 16:19 & 18:18). As the Vatican II document on the Liturgy states, both Sacraments and sacramentals sanctify us, not of themselves, but by power flowing from the redemptive act of Jesus, elicited by the Church’s intercession to be directed through those external signs and elements. Hence sacramentals like prayercloths are not to be used superstitiously as having self-contained power, but as “focus points” funneling one’s faith toward Jesus, just as a flag is used as a focus point of patriotism. As with the use of Sacraments, much depends on the faith and devotion of the person using this sacramental.

   How do I pray with a prayer cloth? In many places, the custom exists to place the prayer cloth on a special table and to place petitions on the cloth as well as pictures of our loved ones and those in need of spiritual or physical healing. The prayer cloth may also be placed directly on the sick person or held while praying. Prayer cloths can be used for the dying, the ill, the aged, the lonely and fearful, cures of all kinds, conversions, consolations of soul and body, family difficulties, burials, calamities, special occasions, and devotional praying.

It is recommended that when praying for someone who is sick, both people touch the cloth as you pray:

Our Lady dictated the following prayer to Jelena, one of the locutionists from Medjugorje:

   O my God, this sick person here before You has come to ask You what he desires and what he believes to be the most important thing for himself. Grant, O God, that these words enter into his heart: “It is important to be healthy in the soul!” Lord , may Your Holy Will be done unto him in everything. If You wish that he be healed, may he be given health. But if Your Will is different, may he continue to bear this cross. I pray to You also for us who intercede for him. Purify our hearts so as to make us worthy of Your Holy Mercy to be given through us. Protect him and relieve his sufferings. May Your Holy Will be done unto him. Through him may Your Holy Name be revealed. Help him to bear his cross with courage.

Testimonies with the Medjugorje Prayer Cloths

(Note: The majority of the blessings here are from the ones that were made and touched to the ones with the tears from the Risen Jesus.)

 One day after Mass a lady asked to borrow a cloth for her niece who had been hospitalized for 4 months with many complications and little hope of recovery. Since I did not have an original, I explained to her about the ones Marge made and offered it to her. We continued to talk and then she told me that when I handed her the cloth that she felt a power go right through her body.  She said it was a good feeling, a kind of strength she didn’t normally have, and was on the verge of tears. She later told me that she took the cloth to the hospital and prayed as her niece held it. The next day her niece said that she was able to eat solid food for the first time in 4 months. Soon after, her niece was transferred to a rehabilitation unit to learn to walk again!  Praise God! June Klins

A young girl who was in a coma for nearly a month, who had been given little hope and was predicted by the physicians to have severe brain damage if she did survive.  She came out of the coma after having been prayed for with the cloth, without any brain damage whatsoever. Cindy

My niece had 3 heart attacks at age 25 which resulted in triple bypass and it has been a rocky road since then. She had another heart attack at age 31 and a stroke in September, 2006. She is now 41. She has 17% of her heart functioning, an enlarged heart, 2 100% blocked arteries, a mitral valve that is leaking, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, scledroderma, lupus, scoliosis, osteoporosis, polymyositis, and dry gangrene because there is very little blood flow to her feet and hands. Just recently a portion of the middle finger fell off as a result of gangrene. All of this is just the tip of the iceberg for her. On Feb. 4, 2007 she had 6 cardiac v-fib arithmia attacks and had to be rushed to a local hospital. The local hospital rushed her to the renowned Cleveland Clinic where she had been hospitalized since August, 2006. She had not been home a full month since August. A dear friend of mine knows completely of my niece’s situation and was so kind to give me a healing prayer cloth to pray for her, and so I started using the cloth and prayer immediately. On Feb. 6, she had surgery. The surgeon said the surgery went very well, but could not understand how she survived the previous Sunday. He said it is almost humanly impossible to survive one of those attacks let alone six attacks.  I knew it was the healing prayer cloth after listening to what the surgeon told us.  Lucy

Thanks for the prayer cloth you sent to my sister for my brother-in-law. He had his surgery. They had to take part of his lung out. The doctor told him he wouldn’t start to heal for 5 days. The doctor checked him the first day and said the tissue was growing back the first day!! This doesn’t happen! Mary

Dorothy is her name and her husband had a miracle with the prayer cloth last week. He had been praying with it over his heart every day since the doctor told him he had a blockage which a nuclear stress test revealed. When he had the heart catheterization a week later the doctor found no blockage and told him he didn’t understand this and couldn’t explain what happened to him. We know that it was a miracle!! A young man in Florida had been in a motorcycle accident and was near death. A lady who had been given a prayer cloth that was touched to an original Medjugorje cloth prayed over him with it. As she was praying, she was inspired to ask if he had ever been baptized. He was conscious enough to say he had not been baptized, but would like to be. He died immediately after he was baptized. Did he receive a healing?  The world would say no. However, we know that he got the best healing possible – a spiritual healing – a free ticket to Heaven!!!  He hit the jackpot – this is what it is all about!!!   Marge

Sometimes we don't see any miracle, sometimes we are full of pride and sometimes we want God to do our will and not His Will.

I asked you the sacred cloth for a special person. When my friend (an untired prayer of 93 years old) and I went to his house, my friend praid with the cloth that she placed over his stomach. Then my friend  told me that when she was praying with the cloth over the stomach of this person she felt that something were moving inside the stomach. A very strange feeling. During the following days my friend was calling by phone if there were any positive change. After 9 days this person passed away. One month later his wife were explaining  me  what happened the last minutes of his husband. He was talking to somebody. He said: You are so beautiful...I want to go with you.. let's go, right now...and he died. She said that he was smiling and very happy. After this I saw the MIRACLE: The sacred cloth was the first step of the "cleaning process" of this person. I wanted to tell you how your prayers and the healing cloth are helping my sons, Connor (9)  and Kyle (11).  Connor has auditory processing disorder which was preventing him from learning to read.  He is now reading for the first time.  Certainly not at grade level, but he is actually reading!!  Second, he also has sensory integration disorder.  He cannot tolerate crunchy food and especially cannot tolerate things in his mouth like a toothbrush.  But unbelievably, he is actually brushing his own teeth without gagging.  I used to have to brush them while he coughed and gagged.  This is something that the therapists said would be years away from happening with many hundreds of hours of therapy to fix.  We still have a long road with the crunchy foods etc, but this is a big accomplishment for him and a miracle. And he has been out of therapy for 9 months because of the finances.  So I am so relieved for him.

    Kyle has developmental speech apraxia and expressive language disorder.  Sounding out words to learn the spelling and reading has always been a huge struggle.  In fact many speech therapists told me he would have to memorize the spelling of words and would never be able to sound out words because of the phonological awareness delay (severe) he has.  However, Kyle is now sounding out words and learning how to spell.  I am so happy for him.  He is so happy that he is not struggling with words every day. These were all related to me verbally: A cloth was rubbed on the arm of a man who had a stroke and he suffered no paralysis afterwards. A man returned to Mass after an absence of many years. A woman who had bladder cancer prayed with it and the next time she went for testing the cancer was gone. A lady who prayed with one was lifted from a deep depression. A lady who was unable to walk for 6 months was able to take some steps after having prayed with a cloth. A pregnant woman who was told there was something wrong with her baby’s stomach used it before traveling over 100 miles to a specialist, and found there was nothing wrong at all. June Klins

I fell and thought I broke some ribs and a rotator cuff (I am in the medical profession). I crawled into the house and got into bed, but then crawled out to get my prayer cloth and rosary. I wanted to tell you another way the prayer cloth you sent me has touched someone's life.  A good friend of mine had breast cancer in Dec.1999.  She got treated and just recently a new cancer was found in the other breast.  The doctors said she had to have a total mastectomy to avoid any more cancer.  they said they were not sure if it had spread to the lymph nodes.  I lent her our prayer cloth.  Her and her family prayed with it.  She slept with it on her breast the night before the surgery.  Yesterday when she had her surgery the surgeon said the lymph nodes were "clear" of any cancer.  She cried with tears of joy and thanks to God. Elaine

I just want to tell you about my miracle this weekend.  I've had a horrible headache all week....like nothing ever in my life.  Saturday  was the worst - shooting pains that made it hard for me to open my eyes or move...was getting scared.  I put on a hoodie sweatshirt and put one of our original prayer cloths on my head under it for the afternoon, slept and prayed a Rosary.  Pain is ALL GONE!!!!! One interesting story came from a reader who told us that she received a cloth to pray with while she was hospitalized. She wanted to share it with her roommate in the hospital but was unable to get out of bed to do this.  The next day the roommate came to her bed to pray with her with a cloth that she had received from us too - sent to two different people, who were friends of the patients. She wrote, “We prayed on both cloths! Thanks be to God!”  She added, “What are the odds of two friends sending for prayer cloths for friends in the same room in the same huge hospital (UPMC) with the same name (both were called ‘Bobby.’)?”  June Klins

One of my favorite recent testimonies involves a lady who told me that all of her life she has had dental problems.

She had been told by her dentist that at her next appointment a crumbling tooth was going to have to be capped. When she received the cloth, she held the cloth up to her cheek and prayed. She was pleasantly surprised at the next visit that not only did the tooth become strong and not need a cap, but that for probably the first time in her life, she could say, “Look, Ma, no cavities!”  June Klins

A lady suffered a sinus infection that resulted in what doctors felt was a permanent loss of her senses of taste and smell. She touched a prayer cloth to her face and smelled roses! Her sense of smell returned and so did her sense of taste! (sharing from “Pilgrim’s Peaceletter”)

A man named Mike went to Medjugorje in October of 2006 and I asked him to get me some more prayer cloths. I did not tell him how many but he felt inspired to get me 100.(He bought 4 packages of 25 each.)  He wiped the tears with each one individually, had them blessed and gave them to a lady in my city who was on his pilgrimage. She misunderstood and thought he had 200 of them for me, so she gave three of them away to people who asked her for them. When I went to her house to pick them up, we counted them and there were 98. There really should have been 97. We counted them twice, maybe even 3 times. A few days later I counted them at my house and there were 100!!!  I counted them several times and got 100 every time. Since I have been giving them away, and I keep a record of that, I always add the number I have given and the number left and it always adds up to 100!  June Klins

The story I saw in the newsletter about the woman with bad teeth who prayed with the healing cloth inspired me.  Since I came down with auto immune thyroid disease, my teeth have needed root canals, crowns etc and a year ago I had 18 cavities.  The dentist fixed six, did two crowns, and then told me I had ten cavities left.  However, we ran out of money and I said I would be back in 2007.  I prayed to have less than 10 more cavities to fix. I was praying with the prayer cloth about my teeth.  Well, yesterday, I went to the dentist and only had five cavities.  So my prayers have been answered. It was funny watching the dentist look at my x-rays and back at his notes from December. Then he would look at my teeth again.  He had even told me I was going to need a third crown (he did two last year).  But not now.   Elaine

I have a sister that had MS, visited the Shrine to St. Pio and has always had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother; doctors claimed - after her pilgrimage - that she was somehow free of MS (we know that God willed her to be free of her MS); anyway it left her resistance low, and she caught Pneumonia -the day before I received the prayer cloth.  I rushed to her, she was very ill - high fever, limp and white as a sheet, she held the cloth to her chest and prayed with such faith, as I read the prayer to her.  She awoke the next morning with only minor sinus problems.  Praise the Lord! Thanks for the prayer cloth. The staph infection which persisted through 3 courses of antibiotics (about 6 weeks) cleared up after 9 days of prayer (a novena) with the prayer cloth.

My friend and I were making the cloths. After I touched the ones we made to the original I handed them to my friend (who is not Catholic) to put in plastic bags. She told me that she could feel a power coming from them. Joann

I got a phone call today from a lady who is claiming a miracle of her knee problems of 5 years, and a  candidate for a knee reconstruction from pain in the knee. I eventually  did make some prayer cloths from the original that was sent to me. The  lady I gave it to has breast cancer, why I gave it to her, not Catholic but a seek from India. She told me the pain was so bad she limped around but is no more limping I haven’t seen  her and did not see her before but do know she is very sick, She is claiming it a miracle. I had to write to let you know what the Lord has done using the prayer cloth.  My husband and I were trying to adopt a little boy.  The entire process had taken close to 3 years.  I ordered a prayer cloth and placed my son’s picture on it and asked God for Divine help. I am happy to report after all this time, we made the pick-up trip to Guatemala for our son on January5, 2007.  I wrote and asked for the prayer cloth once again a few weeks ago, as my father who has mestastatic cancer involving the liver is in desperate need of Divine intervention.  This is the second time I have used the prayer cloth on him.  He placed it on his stomach and we prayed with him.  It is truly amazing, but his CT scan last week revealed that the tumors are dying! I truly believe in the power of prayer, but we must believe and have faith before we even begin to pray. Marta

My grandson had an accident involving a golf cart.  He is only 5 years old, fell off of the golf cart and was run over by the back wheels.  He had no broken bones, but his legs were cut up badly.  He had a bad infection that was starting to form on his knee.  I prayed for him touching the top of his thigh (over his clothing), with the original prayer cloth.  He touched the prayer cloth and prayed in his own little words to Jesus and asked Jesus to help his leg get better.  Well, last night when the bandages were removed for the wound to be cleaned, it was no longer infected and almost healed.  He was not on antibiotics, so I knew immediately when my son called me to tell me the good news, that it was the prayer cloth and the Tears of Christ that healed his leg.  You see, it was just that very day, before he had been prayed over, that his leg was at its worst and could never have gotten better on it's own, or healed that quickly!  Praise our Lord, Jesus Christ. My friend has been very ill and so I sent for the prayer cloth for her. The last time I talked to her she said it was really comforting her and that she carries it around like “Linus” with his blanket. And the best thing is that her husband, who was not a believer, was starting to believe. Carol
